11th Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Command and Staff Course Closing Ceremony

Adaptation is one of the key to embrace new normals in order to navigate through the changes and challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Speaking at the 11th Royal Brunei Armed Forces, RBAF Command and Staff Course Closing Ceremony, the Second Minister of Defence stressed the need for future leaders to include dynamism for peace towards the promotion of global peace and stability.

 

Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof also emphasised the need for all participants to think critically, be innovative in resolving complex issues in multiple dimensions, and have the intellectual as well as emotional honesty to speak truth to power once they assume higher appointments in the future.

 

Also present were the Commander of the RBAF, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Ambassadors and High Commissioners to the country. This year, course participants received their certificates virtually, followed by the announcement of the award winners. The 40-week course, delivered in collaboration with UBD, aimed to broaden perspectives and professional expertise through tactical and academic approaches as well as disciplines.

 

33 officers have completed the course comprising officers from RBAF, Royal Brunei Police Force and the Internal Security Department, as well as 13 international participants from the People’s Republic of Bangladesh; the Republic of India; the Republic of Indonesia; Malaysia; the Islamic Republic of Pakistan; the Republic of the Philippines; Saudi Arabia; the Republic of Singapore; Kingdom of Thailand; and the United States. Major Ho Jin Peng of the Singapore Armed Forces received the Overall Excellence Award and the Academic Excellence Award. Meanwhile, Major Udara Arif Shamirul bin Salleh of Royal Brunei Air Force received the RBAF Commendation Award, whereas Major Udara Wan Muhammad Azem bin Haji Md Aminuddin of the Royal Brunei Air Force received the Commandant’s Award.
